The APMI Ngong Central Hub, a trailblazing Computer Assisted Learning (CAL) center under the Africa Peace Missions Institute, an accredited institution by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA), joyfully celebrated its 2nd graduation ceremony on Saturday, 23rd December 2023, at its premises in Ngong, Kajiado, Kenya.
During this momentous occasion, 113 candidates from diverse disciplines such as Dressmaking, Hairdressing, Computer Studies, Soapmaking, and Catering were recognized and awarded completion certificates for their unwavering dedication and outstanding performance in their respective assessments. The graduating cohort showcased a broad spectrum of age groups, underscoring the institute’s commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.The grand unveiling of the CAL Hub exceeded all expectations, drawing the participation of approximately 120 aspiring students eager to register for studies. This remarkable turnout reflects the community’s strong desire for educational opportunities and showcases their determination to embrace new avenues for growth.
Mr. Patrick Obonde, Advisor to the Institute’s Board of Management and a representative of Canadian Peacemakers International (CPI), encouraged the graduates to reflect on their educational journey, cherish their newfound knowledge, and depart the institute with a clear sense of purpose. He formally welcomed the graduates into the institute’s esteemed alumni network, stating, “You are now part of a vibrant alumni network, a family of individuals who have shared similar formative experiences. This network serves as a valuable resource, opening doors and providing guidance as you navigate your future paths.”
As we celebrate the accomplishments of the APMI Ngong Central Hub’s Class of 2023, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the graduates as they embark on their journey equipped with knowledge, skills, and a missional-leadership perspective. They are well-positioned to make a positive impact and contribute to shaping a brighter future for all.
The ceremony commenced with a heartfelt prayer led by Mr. Moses Leech, the Youth Programs Director and a dedicated tutor at the institute. Speaking on behalf of the faculty, Mr. Leech described the transformative experience at APMI as deeply enriching. He emphasized the institute’s pivotal role in promoting community development, peace-building, and innovation, stating, “We’ve had the privilege of equipping our learners with invaluable marketplace and missional-leadership skills.” Mr. Leech’s sentiments resonated with many, capturing the essence of the diverse and inclusive community nurtured by the Africa Peace Missions Institute.
Mr. Dickens Opee, the institute’s principal, extended his heartfelt gratitude to collaborators, benefactors, parents, and sponsors whose contributions were instrumental in the graduates’ success. He underscored the transformative impact of the CAL program, particularly highlighting its role in providing educational opportunities to vulnerable community members, including single mothers who have greatly benefited from the newly introduced daycare program. Mr. Opee also lauded the accomplishments of the Computer Studies and Hairdressing graduates, many of whom secured apprenticeship and internship opportunities within the community, showcasing the tangible impact of the CAL Program.
